LECTURE: Starting and Operating a New York State NonProfit

Post placeholder image

On February 20th, I’ll be presenting a workshop covering the ins and outs of launching and running a nonprofit organization in New York.  New York state recently passed a slew of very important changes that will be affecting both existing nonprofits that should be taking steps to comply with the new laws and those organizations that are about to be formalized.

In addition to discussing NY’s requirements, we’ll spend a good portion of the session reviewing the process of gaining tax-exempt (aka 501c3) status under federal law. Although this status is certainly desirable, the time and expense involved doesn’t make sense for all organizations. With a good turnout, we’ll be able to consider options from each of the participant’s viewpoints.  Register for this session here.

If you’d like to discuss how the new New York state laws might affect your organization, or if your group is just considering whether to undertake nonprofit formation, feel free to contact Zak Shusterman directly.
